About The Event

Join Ewan, Jamie and Lachlan Maclean at Ps & Gs church for their Edinburgh launch event to mark the publication of Three Brothers in a Boat.

After rowing the Atlantic, the brothers started talking about something much bigger: a full Pacific crossing from South America to Australia. Nearly halfway around the planet. No stops. No support vessel. At the time, it sounded completely ludicrous, and the idea was quietly dropped. As Lachlan put it: “Half a year at sea, shark attacks, treacherous weather and a high chance of failure. Sounds great, doesn’t it?”

Somehow, that became the plan.

What followed was 139 days at sea: huge storms, dead calms, broken kit, sleep deprivation, shooting stars, sea monsters, near misses, and the strange reality of three brothers living on a tiny rowing boat in the middle of the Pacific.

For this special launch event, the brothers will bring the row to life on stage with film, photographs and a live conversation about the journey, the book, and the purpose behind it: raising money for clean water projects in Madagascar through their charity, The Maclean Foundation.

Whether you followed the row from shore, supported the campaign, or are discovering the story for the first time, this is a chance to gather in Edinburgh and hear their Pacific story first-hand: three brothers, a small boat, and an idea that most people would have left on the back burner.

Signed copies of Three Brothers in a Boat will be available to buy on the night, with a chance to meet the authors.

"Unbelievable courage and bravery and strength and stamina. The Maclean Brothers are an inspiration"
