Pacific Water Remaining

As we rowed across the deepest part of our crossing, we filled an empty olive oil bottle from the ocean beneath us. Every book takes three drops from it. When the bottle is empty, this special edition closes.

What makes this edition so special

Water from the Pacific

On Day 88 we rowed over the Tonga Trench, the deepest water of the crossing. We switched on the watermaker and filled an empty olive oil bottle from the ocean beneath us.

Mixed with ink

Back home, we tinted the water with ink in three different blues, one for each brother.

Applied to your books

Three drops on every bookplate, applied by hand with a pipette. The paper blooms each one differently, so no two copies are the same.

More than a special edition,

The Maclean Foundation

We set up The Maclean Foundation in 2023. The charities focus is the funding of clean water projects, using these as a catalyst to improving people’s lives.

The impact from the Pacific row will be delivered in Madagascar through our trusted partner charity, Feedback Madagascar.

£1m will bring change not just at community level; it could bring structural change to an entire region. Only around one in ten people in rural Madagascar has safely managed drinking water. We’re doing something to change that.

Ewan Maclean

OLDEST brother

After nearly a decade at Dyson, Ewan left his career to return to Scotland and become a full-time brother. Was it a mistake? Having since spent 139 days in a 28-foot boat with the other two, he has had plenty of time to think about it.

Ewan is an engineer at Dyson. He invents things that don't yet exist. He's in charge of all electronics and tech aboard our boat.
