Our purpose

Clean water is a human right

Imagine for a moment what your day would look like without clean water? It’s something most of us take for granted each and every day.

We believe that everyone should have water that’s clean and safe to drink, regardless of where they live. Why? Clean water is vital for good health, education, livelihoods and a safe environment.

Where our delivery partner Feedback Madagascar works, in the south-east region, 80% of the population live without safe water. This causes diseases, malnutrition, over 50% of children under 5 to be stunted and is a fundamental barrier to development.

The direct impact of clean water

Health

  • A mother doesn’t have to worry every time her child has a drink of water

  • Improved menstrual hygiene and facilities

  • Raised morale and optimism

Environment

  • Fewer trees cut down for boiling dirty water

  • Boreholes can be used to water tree-nurseries

Time

  • Less sick days means more school and work days

  • Shorter, safer journeys for women and children fetching water

  • Time no longer lost boiling dirty water

The catalytic effect of clean water

Harnessing the opportunities created by the provision of clean water.

The working relationship and skills gained in realising a water project lay a solid foundation for further collaborative activities between communities and Feedback Madagascar. This could be anything from building a school or a health centre to increasing agricultural production or growing trees, to name just a few.
